ROB MARCIANO IN SANTA CRUZ, CALIFORNIA. THANK YOU. AND AS CALIFORNIA BRACES FOR RAIN, A NOR'EASTER IS THREATENING TO DUMP 30 INCHES OF SNOW IN PARTS OF NEW YORK AND NEW ENGLAND. THAT PLUS HIGH WINDS COULD MEAN POWER OUTAGES AND COASTAL FLOODING. TREVOR AULT HAS MORE FROM CHELSEA, MASSACHUSETTS. HIGH TREVOR AULT. HEY, GOOD MORNING, DIANE . SO WE'RE BASICALLY WATCHING THIS STORM RAMP UP THROUGH THE DAY TO DAY OR IN BOSTON WHERE WE ARE. IT'S BEEN NONSTOP RAINFALL, BUT ALL OF MASSACHUSETTS IS UNDER A WINTER STORM WARNING. SO SOME AREAS ARE ALREADY GETTING SLAMMED WITH SNOWFALL. AND THEN LATER HERE IN BOSTON, WE'RE EXPECTING THIS RAIN TO TRANSITION AS TEMPERATURE TEMPERATURES ARE ACTUALLY GOING TO GET COLDER THROUGH THE DAY. AND BECAUSE OF THAT, THIS IS GOING TO BE A VERY WET, VERY HEAVY SNOWFALL. PLUS, WITH THOSE HIGH WIND ADVISORIES, SOME SPOTS ARE GOING TO SEE 60 MILE AN HOUR WIND GUSTS. IT IS A VERY BAD RECIPE FOR POWER LINES. IT COULD MEAN SOME EXTENSIVE POWER OUTAGES. AND WITH THE LENGTH OF THIS STORM , IT COULD TAKE THEM QUITE SOME TIME TO GET ALL OF THAT POWER RESTORED. WHEN DOES GO AWAY? BECAUSE THE STORM COULD EASILY LAST TWO DAYS OR SO, SOME OF THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS MIGHT END UP BEING TWO PLUS FEET OF SNOW OR MORE HERE IN BOSTON. IT'S ONLY PROBABLY GOING TO BE A COUPLE OF INCHES OF SNOW. BUT BECAUSE OF HOW WARM IT IS , IT'S LIKELY GOING TO MELT. AND WE HAVE ALL THAT RAINFALL. YOU GET THE HIGH WINDS COMING IN. WE HAVE COASTAL FLOOD WARNINGS, TOO. THAT'S GOING TO BE THE PROBLEM TOMORROW MORNING. BUT THIS IS A TWO DAY STORM
