- With unyielding resolve, survivors of the Highland Park 4th of July massacre shared their pain. - Imagine a hot, metal, dartlike projectile tearing through your body at supersonic speed, faster than the speed of sound. You'll feel it burn through your skin. - Laura Bennett was shot twice in her hip and back, her husband shielding their children as they ran. - We survived a battle zone that day. - John Strauss's father Steven was killed in the shooting. - We stand here today because of a growing cancer in the fabric of American life that threatens us all, where desperate lost souls can easily outfit themselves with military grade weapons. - They both say holding accountable gun manufacturers Smith and Wesson and all those responsible for the shooting that killed 7 and wounded dozens of others is the only way forward. - Their marketing of the M&P 15 was unfair and deceptive, because they knew that these marketing and sales practices promote and sell an image that caters to and attracts individuals just like the shooter. - Lawyers are calling it an unprecedented national coalition of gun control advocates suing Smith and Wesson for practices they say attract young men who may want to act out, quote, "a perverse combat fantasy of killing as many people as possible," unquote. Also in the suit, online gun store Bud's Gun Shop, gun retailer Red Dot Arms, alleged shooter Robert Crimo, III, and his father, Robert Crimo, jr. For what lawyers say were their roles in the massacre. - We believe that we will demonstrate to a jury that Smith and Wesson is out there training mass shooters as we speak in households all over the country. - It's a great strength for these victims to relive their trauma and tell their stories. More than a dozen lawsuits representing 40 plus victims in this tragedy. We've reached out to all the defendants in this case, including Smith and Wesson, and have not heard back from any of them.
