Continuing coverage of president Biden at the UN climate summit in Scotland the president touting. The cooperation of world leaders there to address what he calls a decisive decade when it comes to curbing greenhouse gas emissions saying. He can't think of any two days when more has been accomplished. We want to bring in our ABC news White House correspondent Mary Alice parks for more she was listening to the president as well. Your first initial thoughts. It's here the president said that the world leaders here are making progress and there's no doubt about that just some of the announcement today. This announcement around. Methane gas is announcement around promising to end deforestation. Across the globe. It is clear that they are focused on this. The question is will they make as much. Progress as they are promising and of course all eyes are on the president Biden he's been touting his agenda back home saying to the United States is gonna make. These historic investments in fighting climate change but we all know that at this point. Those pills are still operational. We've been watching over the last few days senator Joseph Manchin say he is just not on board and so the real question is did the president declare victory too early. And is he telling these world leaders that he's been in making its investments. He's not sure he's going to actually be able to meet yet. Kara. Also the question is as it is the photo off always looks great Mary Alice right where you see the president shaking hands with all these world leaders more than a hundred of them all gathered there. Talking about these pledges and promises that when it comes down to it. Give us a reality check who's going did keep all these leaders accountable when we here at home. Are having a Huff hard enough time. Trying to live up to what the president wants. Right the reality is it's a voter is domestically that will keep each of these individual. And world leaders accountable if they're gonna have to go back and tell everyone how they're gonna make good on the promises. That they made here of course they're gonna work to keep the child there accountable that's part of the reason you have this sort of in person diplomacy it does count. When you shake someone's hand and your in the same room and you look someone in the eye and say you're gonna do something but. Fundamentally. That's what makes foreign policy so typical and that's what's been so frustrating to environmental practice over the years. It come to conferences like this they've seen global leaders make commitments and they haven't seen those policies put in place. Back at home and so we're gonna have to watch over the next few weeks and months and years. If the leaders make good on his commitment and remember they affect is also see that these commitments are only barely going to get. The world there I mean look at the pres the commitments at present Biden has made to cut. American admissions in half by 2030 well that's the bare minimum of what some of the climate scientists say isn't required. Tell to try to state to try to keep away some of these most catastrophic. Effects of global warming so right now we're watching them make the commitments for maybe. What is just barely necessary. To keep global warming at at at a minimum and not these really dire predictions that we're hearing so much about. Our White House correspondent Mary Alice parks we look forward to you and getting back to DC here with us Mary Alice thank you so much.
