PIERRE THOMAS: As store surveillance cameras roll, 37-year-old Timothy Johnson walks into a Nordstrom's Department store at Tysons Corner Mall in Northern Virginia. Police say he can be seen here stealing at least one pair of sunglasses. Within minutes, police say, store alarms sound, and officers are suddenly in hot pursuit. This police body camera rolling.

PIERRE THOMAS: It's shortly after 6:00 PM and dark.
POLICE OFFICER: Get on the ground.
PIERRE THOMAS: In closing moments of the chase, it's not exactly clear what happens, but the two officers fire their weapons.

PIERRE THOMAS: According to police, Johnson is shot once in the chest. He's taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. Police say they found no weapons at the scene. One of the officers involved placed on restrictive duty. The other who fired the fatal shot, dismissed from the force.
