Transcript for Woman makes customized jacket for dad on dialysis
[MUSIC PLAYING] - He did tell me, you know, he was going through his dialysis treatment. And he was just complaining about how cold he was. And he suggested putting zippers on jackets. He did find some that were very similar, but they were kind of expensive for him-- like $50. And he did not want to spend that.
And he knew, you know, like I do a lot of designing. He just gave me some of his jackets, and was like, hey, can you, like, put a zipper-- zippers on it and whatnot, and showed me a picture. And so I tried to, like, replicate it as best as I could.
And I gave him the first jacket, and he really liked it. Which is the picture of him, like, on the treadmill, like, smiling and stuff. That was the first picture he sent me. And then he was so proud of it that he made me do, like-- I'm not even joking-- like, six more of those jackets. [LAUGHS]

He, like, went to the hospital for, like, a stroke. And it was, like, literally, like, a week-- not even a week after the funeral. And I honestly thought, you know, it was just stress. But then it kind of happened again, like, a couple of months later. And then like his health was just kind of declining more and more.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
They said, you know, he needs a new, like, kidney-- or a kidney donation. And then the dialysis is to help prepare him for that.
Since I do a lot of fashion designing, I'm used to sharing my work. But in my mind at that moment, I just thought I was, like, sharing something about, like, me and my dad. I didn't really know it was going to be this whole thing. The response has been really overwhelming. Like, I've learned so much already in such a short amount of time.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
I felt mostly right about posting the video tutorial for everybody, like, for free. I wanted to-- I wanted to make this as accessible as possible for everyone around the world. That's just my goal.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
To anyone out there who is watching, listening, reading, the only thing I hope to take from this is to help everyone out there that needs it. And hopefully-- hopefully that my dad, you know, is able to get, like, a kidney donation. Which is why I'm going out there and doing this with my introverted self. So yeah, that's kind of all I'm, you know, wanting from this. [LAUGHS]
