Transcript for Giraffe gets custom braces made to fix abnormality in her legs
MATT KINNEY: Msituni presented to the hospital the day of birth. So she was born out in one of our field habitats. And immediately, we realized that something was wrong with her leg, that it was bent in the wrong direction. So normally, she'd be nice and straight, but she's actually hyperextending that joint. So she was sitting way back on it. And we knew that if we didn't intervene, that it would get worse and worse. She wouldn't be able to survive out in the field. [MUSIC PLAYING] - You know, we met her first. And then I saw her on the table when she was under anesthesia. And it was just amazing seeing such a big, beautiful creature just laying there in front of me. So I had to ask the staff if I could give her a hug, and they said yeah. It was very rewarding.
