Transcript for Fall Out Boy performs 'Love From the Other Side' on ‘GMA’
- And we are back now with the chart-topping rock stars Fall Out Boy. They've just released their eighth studio album called So Much for Stardust-- their first album in five years. - And you guys are going to perform for us in just a moment. But let's just chat for one quick minute. You guys have been a band now for 20 years. This new album-- it has something for the new fans and the old long-time fans as well. - I think when you've been making art over such a long period, there's people who will debate what their favorite record is, their favorite movie, who their favorite Batman is, and so it's-- [LAUGHTER] --fun to kind of make something that has something for everybody, and, I guess, engage in that conversation with them. - Whit's a long-time fan. You were talking about your college years. - Absolutely. I've been rocking out to you guys for a long time. So here we go. Yeah, we got to COVER Eddie in the crowd, there. [LAUGHTER] Eddie is a big time headbanger. But let's talk about the tour here, because you guys are kicking this thing off. And you're going to start it in Chicago-- hometown, Wrigley Field. How excited are you about that? - It's amazing. Amazing to get to-- this will be, what, the third time we've played Wrigley now? Which-- it's amazing to play it once, you know? So it's overwhelming, growing up there. - What's the key to longevity? A lot a lot of bands come and go, but you guys have-- you've done your own thing. You've come back together, and you-- - Staying power. - Yep. You keep filling up the stadiums. - I think that we're all still friends with each other, and we've just survived it on the other side. And we hang out and get our kids together-- PATRICK STUMP: Get dinner once in a while. That helps. - A little gathering outside of work, a little bit. - Actually hang out with each other. - Break a little bread. - Excellent. All right, guys. Well, let's go ahead and get to the music here. So off their brand-new album out today, So Much for Stardust. Here's Fall Out Boy with their lead single and hit number one on the alternative radio. And this is Love From the Other Side. [CHEERING, APPLAUSE] [MUSIC - FALL OUT BOY, "LOVE FROM THE OTHER SIDE"] FALL OUT BOY: (SINGING) Model house life meltdown. Still a model dream letdown. It kills me. You know, I'm dying out here. What would you trade the pain for? I'm not sure. We were a hammer to the statue of David. We were a painting you could never frame. And you were the sunshine of my lifetime. What would you trade the pain for? This city always hangs a little bit lonely on me. Loose, like a kid playing pretend in his father's suit. Oh, I'd never go. I just want to be invited, oh. Got to give up, get the feeling, get the feeling. Don't fight it, fight it. Sending my love from the other side of the apocalypse. And I just about snapped. Don't look back. Every lover's got a little dagger in their hand. Love from the other side of the apocalypse. And I just about snapped. Don't look back. Every lover's got a little dagger in their hand. Generation sleep. I'm falling in and out of love. I'm getting that tilted feeling out here. What would you trade the pain for? I'm not sure. Nowhere for us to go but heaven. Summer falling through our fingers again and you were the sunshine of my lifetime. What would you trade the pain for? Oh, I'd never go. I just want to be invited, oh. Got to give up, get the feeling, get the feeling. Don't fight it, fight it. Sending my love from the other side of the apocalypse. And I just about snapped. Don't look back. Every lover's got a little dagger in their hand. Oh, from the other side of the apocalypse. And I just about snapped. Don't look back. Every lover's got a little dagger-- send my love. Send my love. [CHEERING]
